Jadeed Solutions vs traditional marketing agencies

Most marketing agencies charge a monthly retainer for a set of activities. For many businesses that works well. For a local service business watching every pound of margin, it can mean paying the same in a quiet month as in a busy one. Here is how the two approaches compare.

The short answer

A larger agency makes sense when you need breadth — brand, PR, broadcast, multiple markets — or in-person account management. Jadeed fits local service businesses that want website, SEO, ads and tracking run by a small, hands-on team, measured on booked jobs, with the option of paying from the results.

Choose traditional marketing agencies if

  • You need services beyond local growth: brand strategy, PR, TV or radio, large-scale content production.
  • You want regular in-person meetings with a local account team.
  • You operate across many regions or countries and need a large team to cover them.
  • You have a marketing department that prefers to manage an agency on a retainer.

Choose Jadeed if

  • You run a local service business and want more calls and booked jobs.
  • You would rather deal directly with the people doing the work than an account manager.
  • You want the option of fees that follow the bookings the work generates.
  • You want to own every account, with no markup on ad spend.

What traditional agencies do well

A well-run agency brings a range of specialists, established processes and — often — a local team you can meet. For businesses with bigger budgets and broader needs, that breadth is worth paying for:

  • Brand identity, campaigns and creative production across many channels.
  • PR, media relationships and broadcast advertising.
  • Large content and paid media programmes across several markets.
  • Account management that fits into a company with its own marketing department.

If that is what you need, a larger agency is probably the right choice, and we would say so on a first call.

Why retainers can be a poor fit for local service businesses

Retainers pay for activity: a number of blog posts, a campaign management fee, a monthly report. The agency is paid the same whether that activity produced ten jobs or none. That is a reasonable arrangement for many businesses, but local service owners often run into the same problems:

  1. Cost does not follow results. A quiet month costs as much as a busy one.
  2. Activity reports instead of booked jobs. Traffic and rankings are easy to report; enquiries and revenue take more work to connect.
  3. Ad fees that grow with spend. Where management is charged as a percentage of ad spend, the agency earns more when you spend more, whether or not the extra spend pays off.
  4. Distance from the work. An account manager relays messages to specialists you never speak to.
  5. Unclear ownership. Ad accounts, websites or profiles set up under the agency’s own accounts can be hard to take back.

None of this is inevitable — good agencies avoid all five — but it is worth checking before you sign.

How Jadeed is set up differently

We are deliberately small: a founder-led team working with around ten active clients, all local service businesses. That shapes how we work:

  • You choose the commercial model. A fixed-fee plan with a defined scope, a performance deal where the fee is a share of revenue from bookings the work generates, or a tiered deal with a fixed fee per completed job.
  • No markup on ad spend. You pay Google or Meta directly from your own account; management is part of your plan.
  • You own everything. Domain, hosting, Google Business Profile, analytics and ad accounts are in your business’s name, with us added as users.
  • Reporting in jobs, not just traffic. Calls, forms, WhatsApp enquiries and — where we can track them — booked jobs.
  • Direct access. You talk to the people doing the work, by WhatsApp, phone and email.

The Alpha Movers case study shows the model in practice: a client who found monthly SEO fees hard to justify and chose to pay 10% after bookings instead.

Performance pricing is not free money — here is the trade

Paying from results sounds like the obvious choice, but it asks more of you than a retainer does. Because our fee depends on your figures, a performance deal needs:

  • An agreed baseline and attribution method before work starts.
  • Access to booking or revenue records, usually read-only.
  • Response commitments, so enquiries are answered and followed up.
  • Enough capacity to serve the extra work.
  • An initial term of 12–24 months, and a short paid audit to set the baseline.

In return, a quiet month costs less, and both sides are paid for the same thing: booked work. Our Profit-Share Handbook sets out every requirement in detail. If you would rather keep your books private, a fixed-fee plan is a perfectly good choice — SEO plans start from £100 a month with a six-month minimum.

Questions to ask any agency before signing

Whether you choose us or someone else, these questions separate good agencies from expensive ones:

  1. Who owns the ad accounts, website, domain and Business Profile — during and after the contract?
  2. How is ad management charged — flat, or as a percentage of spend? Is there any markup on media?
  3. What exactly will you report each month, and can it show enquiries and booked jobs?
  4. Who will actually do the work, and can I speak to them?
  5. What is the minimum term, and what happens to my accounts if I leave?
  6. Can I speak to a current client in a business like mine?
FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Is the 10% on all my revenue?
No. On performance deals, the percentage applies to revenue from bookings attributed to our work, as defined in the agreement — not your whole turnover. The Profit-Share Handbook explains how attribution is agreed.
Do you work on retainers too?
Yes — our flat-fee plans are a fixed monthly or milestone price for a defined scope. You choose the model that suits your business.
How can a remote team compete with a local agency?
Local search, websites and ads are delivered online wherever the team sits. We work remotely with clients in the UK, the US, Canada and the UAE, communicating by WhatsApp, phone and video. If in-person meetings matter to you, a local agency may suit you better.
Can we move from our current agency to you?
Yes. We start by confirming that every account is — or is moved into — your business’s name, then audit what exists before changing anything.
